DUBAI – Former Australian cricketer Brett Lee, famed for his blistering pace and wicket-taking abilities, has officially relocated to Dubai.

Lee, who claimed over 700 wickets across all formats of international cricket, shared the news with fans through a series of photographs and videos on Instagram. “What began as a few trips for work has grown into something much bigger… Dubai is now home,” the fast bowler wrote, highlighting the family’s excitement at settling in the Emirate.

The posts showcased Dubai in all its splendour – from the towering Burj Khalifa and manicured golf courses to a desert camel ride – revealing how the family has embraced their new surroundings. “New opportunities, great people, plenty of family time and a lifestyle that’s pretty hard to beat. We’ve honestly loved every minute of it,” Lee added.

Lee emphasised that his children are thriving in Dubai’s educational system and that sports are accessible everywhere. “The kids are thriving, the schools are fantastic, sport is everywhere, and it’s the people you meet along the way that really make it,” he said. Lee’s move reflects a growing trend of high-profile sports stars, entertainers, and business figures choosing Dubai as a long-term home, attracted by its safety, cosmopolitan culture, and world-class infrastructure.

Despite the relocation, Lee maintained a strong connection to his homeland. “We’ll always be proud to call Australia home and I’m so grateful for the life we’ve built there. That will never change,” he said, underscoring his enduring ties to Australian cricket and culture.

Lee retired from international cricket in 2012 after a 13-year career marked by fearsome bowling alongside Glenn McGrath and Jason Gillespie. In December last year, he was inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame, joining the elite ranks of the game’s greats.

His bond with the UAE continues to strengthen, as late last month he was appointed global ambassador for the real estate conglomerate Danube Group, signalling a professional chapter beyond sport.

For Brett Lee, Dubai represents more than a relocation; it is a space to balance family life, embrace new opportunities, and remain connected to the cricketing and business worlds.
